For this week’s #MySundayPhoto I thought I would share with you a little family tradition of ours. When I say tradition this will in fact be our second year so I guess you can pop that into the traditions box. We stumbled across a rather cute fruit farm in Woore that also has a cafe, ice cream parlour and scrummy cake, it is a family run business with a picnic area and some farm animals to be enjoyed. On Lil G’s request we made a trip out again to pick some fruit ready for making a little Eton Mess dessert to round off our family BBQ.
And so we packed our best picking fingers, smacked our lips ready for all the tasting, you know the rule pick two, eat one (ssshhh don’t tell anyone) and off to the farm we went. Last year was so much fun, as most firsts are but actually our second visit was even more fun. With being that little bit older I am noticing just how much more Lil G enjoys our adventures. He is able to make his own memories and really enjoys being outdoors. This year he picked his own fruit baskets and knew exactly which fruits he wanted to go off in search of. And off we went…
We picked strawberries, raspberries and blackberries. The perfect combination for lashings of cream and meringue. We even took a little of each to Nanny’s house as she was feeling poorly. Our boy has the biggest heart and felt so proud to hand his pickings over to Nanny, making sure to tell her that he’d like her to make a scrummy dessert for us to taste on our next visit. Fruit crumble coming right up, said Nanny.
Have you been fruit picking yet this year?
