I hope you caught the VATA superfood smoothie recipe I posted yesterday.  Such a great smoothie that grounds and nourishes those airy VATAS and brings them back into balance.  Lots of great feedback on it!  So, today, I present to you another balancing superfood smoothie for those fiery PITTA’S.  This smoothie will nourish and fill you, yet soothe your digestive fire.  This is yet another wonderful smoothie recipe adapted from Cate Stillman at Yogahealer.

Pitta’s Superfood Smoothie

SERVES 1 Person

  • 1 cup water
  • 1 orange (peeled)
  • 2 cups leafy greens of choice
  • 2 oz. aloe vera juice or large chunk of fresh aloe gel
  • 1 TB. Maca
  • 2 TB. ground flax seed –  nutrients in flax seeds are better absorbed when ground
  • 1/2 tsp. wheatgrass powder (optional) or spirulina
  • stevia to taste for sweetener

Put all ingredients into a high speed blender ( I use a Vitamix) and blend till smooth and creamy.  If you want to substitute some other fruits with this recipe, check out my Ayurveda Dietary Guidelines post for Pitta.  It is very tasty! You know that I don’t put anything up before sampling and trying it myself to make sure it’s post worthy – this one IS!

    • Hi Soni! Fruit can be mixed with leafy greens but nothing else. I’ve been making green smoothies like this for over 3.5 years and they food combine beautifully. Fruit ALONE or with leafy greens in a blended smoothie – only way I go.
